Rehabbers in the G.A.R. building, which will house soon-to-open Republic and Parks & Rec, were on the hunt last fall for a missing pineapple which used to sit on top of the newel at base of the lobby stairs. Mindfield, the owners of the building, were seeking leads on the elusive decoration, with the promise of a tasty pineapple treat as reward.

In the interim, a woman who used to work in the G.A.R. building reached out to the company to inquire about the pineapple, according to the renovator's blog. The conversation lead to the discovery of the only known photograph of the object, apparently taken during the 1970s. Could this photo lead to the manufacture of a lookalike or the rediscovery of that original missing piece? Only time will tell.
