January 22: Nap Boule Haitian cuisine is popping up at the newly minted POP space at the Checker Bar. Chef Christian Noel is preparing an a la carte menu that integrates fish and root vegetables. Beginning at 7 p.m. diners can feast on cod fish pate, jerk veggies with grits, fried snapper with grits, and Haitian Squash soup. Not to be forgotten, dessert is a mixed fruit dish with Haitian dessert rum. [EaterWire]

January 25: Help Birmingham's EliTea celebrate its one-month anniversary at the tea bar's Grand Opening this Sunday. February 4: Cruising into next month, Cork Wine Pub in Pleasant Ridge is hosting the fifth addition of the collaborative Seasoned Chefs Dinner Series. The series' original crew will be there, including Chris Johnson (The Meeting House), Ben Meyer (Iridescence), Jeff Rose (C.A.Y.A. Smokehouse Grill), Alan Merhar (Evans Street Station), Eric Voigt (Big Rock Chophouse, The Reserve), and Jay Gundy (Cork Restaurant). However, the event also features chef Myles McVay of Toast Birmingham and sommelier Michael Korn of Woodberry Wine. Tickets for the 7-course meal run $110. Dinner kicks off at 6 p.m. with passed appetizers and some champagne. Past dinners have sold out quickly, so we suggest calling early to reserve a spot. 248.544.2675 [EaterWire]
