Opening of the much-hyped Top of the Pontch, which promises Detroiters Downtown's first flashy, Las Vegas-style rooftop experience appears to be delayed yet again.
The restaurant from Justin Vaiciunas previously declared September 9 as the opening date for the newest restaurant inside the Crowne Plaza. But a call to the Pontch number listed and checks on its Facebook page and website show no signs that today is opening day.
Instead, callers are invited to make future reservations by leaving a message. Meanwhile on Craigslist, an ad posted today says the Pontch is looking for line cooks "ASAP."
Top Of The Pontch is the latest project by Vaiciunas, who began working in the kitchen of the Crowne Plaza's other dining establishment, Jefferson House, when it quietly opened last summer.
