These Detroit area restaurants and bars are opening soon.

1) Midtown: Crain's reported yesterday evening that construction delays have pushed back the HopCat Detroit grand opening from November 15 to December 13. The excuse for the delay is boring, says BarFly Ventures LLC marketing director Chris Knape, so they've launched a social media campaign to come up with a better one. Twitter and Facebook followers who submit posts tagged #hopcatexcuse by 12:01 a.m. September 29 will be considered to win two tickets to a VIP-only pre-opening event on December 12.

2) Corktown: In hiring news, Gold Cash Gold is holding an open call on Wednesday, October 1 for those interested in becoming part of the anticipated restaurant's staff. Applications and interviews will be provided onsite at Ponyride from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A message on the restaurant's Facebook page notes, "If mind-blowing food and unrivaled service inspire you...If you're fun, happy & hospitality-obsessed like us...If you're looking for that Detroit restaurant that isn't okay with being ‘good enough'...You need to be here."

3) Royal Oak: Chef Michael Symon's B Spot Burgers's Royal Oak location is nearing completion and looking for people to join their team. While the application box looks decidedly empty, those interested in a line cook, host, or dish/prep position may inquire with a resume at royaloakbspot@gmail.com.

4) Downtown: Republic, one of chef Kate Williams's two new additions to the G.A.R. building received a new layer of tile this week. Check out the photos here.
