Popupalooza is born; Best Michigan Bars Outside of Detroit

Detroit — St. Cece's Pub in Corktown will host 10 chefs Aug. 19 for its Popupalooza fundraising event. The diverse menu includes Sarap's Filipino-style food, Heavy Nettles, Kung Food, Dr. Sushi, Alegria Pops (ice pops), M*A*S*H, Demitart Gourmet/Normal G's Caribbean food, Native Soul, Aunt Nee's High Five Taco and DIBS. Bloomfield Hills — Chef James Rigato of the Root Restaurant & Bar is moving his kitchen for one night to the Charles L. Bowers School Farm Aug. 24 for its "Friends of Bowers Farm Return to Your Roots" fundraising dinner. The 96-acre "land laboratory" offers kiddies educational opportunities year-round. Rigato will serve up meals with ingredients that are directly sourced from the farm. [-ED-]
