Ale Mary's Beer Hall in Royal Oak got high praises not just for its beers but also its beer-glazed pork belly from the Freep's Sylvia Rector. The food critic gave props to chef Geoffrey Woodman's appreciation for full-flavored comfort foods, in particular, the pork belly, which is cooked confit until tender and finished with a syrupy glaze of wheat beer and orange juice.
