FRANKENMUTH— After an 18-year hiatus, Frankenmuth Brewery's Old Detroit Amber Ale is "back on the market", according to the Detroit News. A tornado destroyed the factory in 1999 and it was not rebuilt until 2009. Michigan's original craft brew is described as a "crisp, easy-drinking beer" which sounds great for late summer and early fall drinking.According to the News, Old Detroit is available "on draft at Metro Detroit bars and restaurants, or in six packs of cans at local beer stores and supermarkets." DOWNTOWN— American Coney Island is hosting its fourth annual Coney Dog Eating contest this Thursday, August 28, according to MLive. The contest will be held at their downtown location at 114 W Lafayette from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the main coney-eating event taking place at 5:45 p.m. Participants will compete to see who can consume the most coneys - hot dog, bun, chili, mustard, onions - in ten minutes. The winner takes home a championship belt and prizes from local retailers and restaurants. Hot dog eating legend and Guinness World Record Holder Takeru Kobayashi will make a guest appearance.
