The Beach Bar & Grille Becomes Beach Haus Biergarten

Next week, The Beach Bar & Grille in Campus Martius Park will transform into Beach Haus, a German biergarten.

The Beach co-owner Matthew Morin said his team wanted to find a way to keep the beach open and accessible to park visitors through the fall. Beach Haus, he said, allows the park to keep the sand and the beach furniture in place but offer guests a more seasonally-appropriate experience in September and October.

In its second year of operation, The Beach opened for the season on May 8. It was originally scheduled to close for fall and winter after Labor Day, but Beach Haus will keep the party going through October.

Beach Haus will serve burgers, bratwurst, knockwurst, sauerkraut, soft pretzels and other bar bites. They'll be pouring two Atwater beers on tap, including Blocktoberfest, and up to three German beers.

They're planning to open next Thursday, September 4, though the date hasn't officially been finalized yet. The biergarten will be open seven days a week, tentatively from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Morin co-owns Fountain Bistro with brother Kevin Morin and friend Jay Lambrecht (of Bookies Bar & Grill). The Bistro operates concessions in the park and runs the Beach Bar & Grille.
