UPDATED: One Boozy Early Weekend With Detroit City Distillery in Eastern Market

UPDATED: Detroit City Distillery is holding not two, but three launch parties this weekend. The separate events will feature the food of chefs Brad Greenhill and Jesse Knott, John Kung, and Dave Mancini, on the 14th, 15th, and 16th respectively. Mancini, of Supino Pizzeria, will be paired with the release of their Two Faced Blended Bourbon on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Tickets to the whiskey dinner on Thursday are sold out, but there is limited availability for the vodka and bourbon parties online.

Whiskey or Vodka? Detroit City Distillery has got connoisseurs of both the brown and clear spirits covered next week during separate release parties. The distillery's Bloodline Whiskey party is at 7 p.m. Thursday and the Gilded Age Vodka release takes place at the same time Friday. Spirits and cocktails will be paired with the food of chef John Kung of Kung Foods. Bottles will also be available for purchase before they are released to the boozing public.

Once Detroit City Distillery opens it will join the growing ranks of locally-produced spirit makers in Metro Detroit, including Two James, Valentine Distilling Co. in Ferndale and the soon-to-arrive Our/Detroit distillery in the city's southwest side.

Both parties will feature three-course dinners, with pairings like blistered corn, grilled leek, green chili, eggplant and basil with a Detroit Sidecar with Bloodline Whiskey, orange cordial and lemon on the whiskey night, and ceviche with kibosh icy wine, pomelo, wheatgrass and balsamic reduction with a cocktail made of Gilded Age Vodka, lemongrass & ginger cordial, lemon juice and soda at the vodka party. Vegetarians will find more options available at the vodka party.
