The Bastille Day dinner at Beard House in New York City is a big deal, as a chef is chosen each year to cook the meal celebrating France's Independence Day. This year, a well-known local face will be in the kitchen, as David Gilbert of Grosse Pointe's Marais has been chosen to cook the meal, according to the Detroit Free Press. Beard House is the home of the James Beard Foundation, the nation's most well known institution for chefs and other industry professionals. He will be closing the restaurant for three days and driving to NYC with his wife and sommelier Monica Gilbert, and six chefs. They will take a refrigerated truck holding all of their ingredients and wine pairings, as is customary for Beard House events. Going to be in NYC on July 14th? Grab a ticket for the dinner, sold to the public at $170 per person.
