The Best of Southwest: Cinco de Mayo Celebrations

New, 1 comment

While yesterday was actually the 5th of May, throughout most of the city and the suburbs the biggest Cinco de Mayo celebrations took place on Sunday, and Southwest Detroit was no exception. Though the parade was cancelled due to an act of violence, events continued as planned throughout much of Southwest. The community gathered to celebrate both traditional and newer aspects of Mexican culture, with food, music, dance, and beautiful cars. Eater Detroit's photographers were on site to capture some of what makes Southwest such a vibrant and important part of Detroit.
