Obviously St. Patty's Day is a big deal in Corktown, but The Oakland in Ferndale is raising the bar with a classy and delicious event of their own, no green beer allowed. They'll be open on Monday, March 17th from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. just this once for a luncheon event featuring some rare Irish whiskies and an Irish-themed local menu prepared by chef James Rigato of The Root in White Lake. Bartender Shane Bang, hot off the heels of being named one of the 25 best bartenders in the country, will be on hand mixing drinks, and there will be "projected films and other festivities" according to the press release.
It's no reservations, first come first serve, so take a long lunch break (or better yet take the day off, because whiskey isn't conducive to working) and celebrate.
