Detroit's MGM Grand recently completed work on a $3 million bar and live music venue in the center of the casino floor. The 7,275-square-foot, Motown-inspired AXIS Lounge fills the void left by previous occupant, U.Me.Drink. Bar offerings include specialty cocktails, as well as a selection of scotch, cognac, draft beers, and wines.
AXIS has 18 flat screen televisions and 20 bar-top video poker games, as well as a state-of-the-art sound system.
The 315-seat club will host nightly performances by local bands playing acoustic, jazz, dance music, Motown, and more. Friday's grand opening celebration takes place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
During regular hours, AXIS will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
