South Lyon's vegan and gluten-free food truck, Shimmy Shack, released its first-ever "Sexiest Vegetarians in Michigan" calendar this week, featuring both male and female amateur models in pin-up style settings and poses.
Releasing the calendar is part of the company's attempt a raising the profile on vegan food, owner Debra Levantrosser tells Eater. "At Shimmy Shack we aim to dispel the myths that vegan food is bland and boring," she says. "Shimmy Shack shows that vegan food is sexy, irresistible, and makes you feel good. We wanted to show the same thing about the people who eat this way."
The company held two rounds of competitive tryouts to select the models. Photographer Carrie Evans of Scottsdale, Arizona, shot the photos, while Jim Ward acted as creative director, selecting the locations.
Levantrosser says the company plans to release a calendar annually with a new theme. "We look at this as much more than a calendar. It is a piece of art," she adds.
Metro Times offers a gallery of images featured in the calendar, which can be ordered online at the Shimmy Shack website.
The truck offers vegan comfort foods like sliders, nachos, and chili as well as shakes and fries.
