Detroit has some major restaurant openings this week—from Gold Cash Gold in Corktown, to Punch Bowl Social on Broadway, and tomorrow's HopCat reveal—but the restaurant world had some other updates.
Lebanese restaurant Mandaloun Bistro, now fills the space left by Morels in Bingham Farms. Owner Melissa Bitar tells Michigan Restaurants and Bars that she credits her mother and father for the food. Bitar's mother runs the kitchen, while her father butchers the meat himself. The reviewer describes Mandaloun as "upscale and modern" with white tablecloths and black chairs.
In other restaurant news, DBusiness Daily News reports that Crispelli's, which operates restaurants in Berkley and West Bloomfield, has secured space in a former veterinary hospital for a 6,000-square-foot French bakery and commissary in Royal Oak. The company expects the bakery to open in March 2015, with some additional restaurants down the road.
