MOD Pizza, a Seattle-based brand, plans to open 25 locations in Michigan in the next five years, according to Crain's. Team Schostak Family Restaurants has franchising rights in the state and plans to start with locations in Metro Detroit.
"Primarily, the locations will be in the Detroit area because we want to build a critical mass of locations and reach some type of efficiency both in operations and marketing," says executive chairman Mark Schostak.
The first MOD location will open in the spring in a 2,600-square-foot space at Northville Park Place on Seven Mile and Haggerty. The company also has a second lease for a similarly sized restaurant on Middlebelt Road near Livonia.
The pizzerias offer a build-your-own pizza concept similar to Blaze in Royal Oak. MOD offers beer, wine, milkshakes, and more.
