Festivals—Michigan is home to one of the largest Arab American communities, which has fostered multitudes of Middle Eastern restaurants throughout metro Detroit. This weekend you can savor one of those most prized street foods, the schwarma, at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. SchwarmaFest will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday featuring five local Mediterranean restaurants, a juice bar, sweets, a bazaar, American and Arab music, and children's activities. The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 6-12, which includes a $5 food voucher and a small donation to a fund bringing healthy meals to the homeless. [Freep]
