Whole Foods—Sweet Potato Sensations and Maria's House Made Salsas are featured in a recent article detailing the "Whole Foods effect" that suggests local businesses can get a boost in sales from offering products at the market. If it's true, the second Detroit Whole Foods location could be a boon for city businesses. [Model D]

Pie—Just in time for Thanksgiving, MLive is seeking Michigan's Best Pie. Sister Pie and Rock City Pies in Detroit have already been nominated. The deadline for entries is October 30.  [MLive]
