Inquiring minds asked whether my sun and stars Jason Momoa was opening a brewery in Detroit and sort of received a response. Brian Mendoza, a representative from the actor's production company Pride of the Gypsies told MLive last week, "We love Detroit but unfortunately we can't comment on any purchase at this time."

Fortunately, The Oakland Press came to the rescue with some more indirect evidence about exactly which GM facility that actor has purchased. Dustin Blitchok at the Press spoke with a real estate developer Bob Waun in Pontiac who says he met with Momoa about properties in the. According to Waun, the Game of Thrones actor and future Aquaman purchased the Planet Rock facility at 34 Rapid Street (map) near Woodward Avenue in Pontiac. The Planet Rock building was the headquarters of the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company in the early 1900s, and the actor plans to construct a combine rock-climbing facility and brewery on the premises.

While again, neither the actor nor his representatives could be reached to confirm Waun's information, it sounds pretty convincing. One must admit though, it's a little disappointing to hear that the Momoa brewery won't be in Detroit. Someone—either Momoa or that Willamette Week reporter—needs to invest in a map.

UPDATE: Jason Momoa spoke with MLive over the phone from Atlanta and confirms he's interested in investing in the Detroit area, but is staying focused on his acting right now. A brewery would have to wait until 2018, when he completes his solo film project.
