DOWNTOWN—It's not clear what exactly is going on since there was no notice on their official Facebook page or anything, but Mo Better Blues appears have been closed for at least a week according to tipsters, though there is now a handwritten sign near the door that says they're reopening tomorrow (Saturday, January 11th) so maybe it was just a post-holiday vacation? DETROIT—Deadline has their list of 5+ Incredible Things To Do In Detroit This Weekend and it's a solid one, including the 40th anniversary of the DIA's Detroit Film Theater (ticket prices are back to the 1974 price of $2 for the weekend), watching a movie about (and then riding) the People Mover, and eating at Alley Taco. [Deadline Detroit]
EASTERN MARKET— It's cold, but tomorrow will be less so, but still disgusting based on the rain predictions, but melt it all away with a warm homemade chocolate lava cake from Chez Chloé. After running around her home country of France over the holidays she is back at Eastern Market tomorrow, this Saturday. [Facebook]
DETROIT— What the heck is Psychedeliyaki?! It's the latest event creation from Chef Nick George (AKA Dr. Sushi) and it's taking place on January 17th, at Nathan's deli (that's the DELI part). They'll be serving Okonomiyaki, which "is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients." And the music will be Psychedelic. The food starts at 7:00 p.m., the music (DJ) starts at 8:00 p.m., and there's a cash bar. In short "OKONOMIYAKI + PSYCHEDELIC MUSIC + DELI = PSYCHEDELIYAKI". [Facebook]
