Pop-Up Dinner at Frontera; After School Special

EASTERN MARKET— Long awaited Eastern Market restaurant Frontera still isn't open—though it was practically ready to go in May—but they're hosting a pop-up on September 19 in conjunction with the Detroit Design Festival. Chef William Huffman from Montauk, NY will serve a five course dinner alongside champagne and cocktails from Joe Rob. There will be a cash bar for unpaid guests and "edible hydrophobic design elements." Tickets are $69. [Eaterwire]

FOOD CAL— The Detroit News offers a roundup of food related events. Detroiters will have an opportunity to learn about Jewish contribution to culinary history, sample authentic Lebanese food, vegan food truck goodies, and other food from around the world, and even take part in a farm to table block party. BRICKTOWN— Tonight from 7-10 p.m. food lovers 21+ are welcome to Yelp's "After-School Special" themed event hosted by WDIV's Ashlee Baracy. There will be three floors of DJ's, demonstrations, performances, photo booths, a fashion show, and of course a wide variety of provisions to choose from. Purveyors include Good People Popcorn, Rock City Pies, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, and alcoholic tastings from Blue Nectar Tequila and Pearl Vodka, to name a few. Although the event is free people are encouraged to donate $5, which will go to Operation Kid Equip. [HellYeahDetroit]
