Anticipation has been building around La Feria's opening for quite a while now, but the 2012 Hatch winner cannot catch a break, as this time they face the dreaded City of Detroit's Board of Zoning Appeals.
La Feria took to their Facebook page this morning in an attempt to both explain their situation and ask for help from any future patrons who also happen to be Detroit residents.
As it is now the upcoming (October 8th) meeting with the Board of Zoning Appeals is, "One of our last major hurdles before opening. The hearing is to solicit approval for our opening as a liquor-serving establishment in an area where such establishments already exist. We also need to request an variance (exception) for parking, as we don't have our own parking lot."
They're asking for support from Detroit residents at this meeting, so if tasty Spanish cuisine and tapas is a priority, here are the details; "Long story short, if you're a Detroit resident, please consider coming to the hearing in support of La Feria. Next Tuesday, [Oct. 8th], 9 a.m. 13th Floor Auditorium of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, 2 Woodward Ave. "
They are asking those planning on attending to let them know via Facebook so that they can plan accordingly.
