MLive conducted some intense research over nine days, visiting 38 Michigan breweries, and they finally picked their favorites in several categories. How did they judge? "We looked for an overall "experience," those places with a great atmosphere, staff and dedication to making Michigan the Great Beer State!"
So who were the winners? Michigan's overall champ and best brewery winner was Short's Brewing Co. in the itty bitty town of Bellaire. Mitten Brewery in Grand Rapids was the number one newcomer, and first place for "Longtime Favorites" went to Dragonmeade Microbrewery in Warren. Read the full article for complete lists and ruminations on what they loved about each brewery, and see if yours made the cut. As for Detroit? Looks like the not-yet-open Batch Brewing Co. will have to wait for next year's contest. Do you agree with MLive's picks? Let us know in the comments.
