Hamtramck is staking its claim as a vital part of Detroit's culinary scene with its first Food Week from September 23rd-28th. Hamtramck's affordable and diverse restaurant scene is the focus here: with restaurant specials and community events (think cooking demonstrations, food tours, music, and a biergarten) as another element.
Classic Polish food, Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakinstani cuisine, Coney dogs, and even hotly anticipated new restaurant Revolver will be involved, so while the star power of Detroit's Restaurant Week may be missing, there will be no shortage of interesting (and inexpensive-many restaurants will feature specials for under $10) options.
Polonia will be representing, as will Bonoful Sweets and Café, Caniff Coney Grill, Reshmi Sweets, Maine Street, and more. Revolver will celebrate its debut with a $35 prix-fixe menu, and HenriettaHaus Coffee Roasters will host host a "sweets, coffees, and teas from around the world" event on Thursday, September 26th, at what will become their new location in 2014 at 8609 Joseph Campau.
Check out the schedule below for the when and where's for all Hamtramck Food Week events including cooking classes, behind the scenes tours, and of course the pop-up biergarten, featuring live music.

The event has only a portion of the buzz of Restaurant Week, and food will be only a fraction of the price, so this is definitely an option if you want to eat out and support smaller businesses in a different part of Detroit.
