Cobo Hall, that massive home of annual automobile excellence and occasional other large-scale events, is making big strides in its efforts to renovate and revive their 1960s'-era atmosphere, and the early shots from the Cobo Grand Ballroom show they are doing something right. The Grand Ballroom, which replaces the old Cobo Arena (home to the Detroit Pistons in years past), will hold up to 5,000 people standing and up to 3,600 people seated. The downtown behemoth is still plenty big, but spaces like these are showing that architectural innovation can still happen in old buildings. Just think of the banquets they can have now!
