DETROIT — Say what you want about the Pure Michigan campaign, they definitely do a good job bringing in outsiders to our fair double-peninula'd state. So it's too bad that their new Detroit-centric TV spot does such a sad job of showcasing the city. With older video clips of retrofitted and non-working fountains, shots of city scenes sans people and a view of Comerica Park without a shot of the stands, it's almost more accurate to give the video the closing tag like: "Come to Detroit — You'll be the only ones here." [CurbedDetroit]
WOLVERINE LAKE — In yet another example of the tiny hamlet of Wolverine Lake punching above its culinary weight, the Freep's Sylvia Rector brings good news from the brand-new C.A.Y.A. Smokehouse Grill, which opened to the public this Tuesday. Chef Jeff Rose delivers, it seems, with hearty doses of smoked ribs, almond-crusted trout, and an eventual brunch menu. Like many new local restaurants, the menu isn't totally finalized yet, but Rector assures that it is more than worth the wait. [Freep]
WARREN — The popular Kuhnhenn Brewing Company is making waves this week with the announcement that they are planning to open a packaging and production facility in nearby Clinton Township next year, with aims to bottle their beer for sale (and maybe even can it, too). There's also word of more mead production in the new facility, which is good for that actually growing number of local mead fans in the area. [DetNews]
