A helpful tipster sent the photos you see of this attractive storefront near the ever-popular Mudgie's Deli in Corktown.
La Villa, a breakfast, brunch and lunch space that appears to be opening in the space formerly occupied by Ladel's Books on Brooklyn Ave., has no opening date listed, but they do have a rough website live and ready, which promises that La Villa provides "Indulgent Cuisine to Tantalize and Awaken Your Palate." The site's comment section shows that it has been live since March of 2012 and the food descriptions — "Strawberry Cream Rose Pancakes with the delicate sweet taste of a red rose...Paradise French Toast — sound like they come from a real, prepared meal experience. The storefront remains plastered with brown paper.
The note that "Good Things Come to Those Wait" on the window dressing is the kind of warning that any would-be restauranteur in Detroit could very well take to heart. Watch this space for more.
