Winners on Avenue of Fashion Include Cafe, Ice Cream

The big news out of the Avenue of Fashion this week is that the jury has weighed in on the art and business proposals for the refurbished retail spaces on Livernois Ave. Their picks include some pretty tasty options.

The permanent food-businesses springing up in the Revolve Detroit-assited Avenue of Fashion corridor include Regal Cafe, a coffee shop with an eye for collaborate creative development, and the combined Local Social Ice Cream and Good Cakes and Bakes, an ice cream and pastry shop partly owned by Katrina Studvent of the nearby 1917 American Bistro.

The popup options (because any new development in the city wouldn't be a development without some popup picks) include Fresh Food Co-op, a collaboration between a variety of local food producers that include Beautiful Soup and Treats by Angelique; the speciality bakery True Indulgence; and Fill-Anthropy, a non-profit bar whose profits go back into community-based projects.

The targeted opening date for the Revolve Detroit spaces and art exhibits is Sept. 20, meaning that these new businesses have a quick buildout ahead of them in the next few weeks. The opening date for another Avenue of Fashion restaurant, Kuzzo's Chicken and Waffles, is still not known.
