New Motor City Wine On Friday; Pumpkin Beer Already?

Motor City Wine

CORKTOWN — After a lengthy and wonderfuly-inexpensive moving sale from their downtown loft, Motor City Wine is all set to open this Friday with an extra-special jazz trio performance. Trio Nomadian lays down a mean set beginning at 10 p.m. in the new spot at 1949 Michigan Avenue. Check it out while the space is still fresh, clean and brand-sparkling new. [DetNews]

EASTERN MARKET — Tickets for the fifth-annual iteration of the Michigan Brewers Guild's Detroit Fall Beer Festival went on sale this morning, and it's fully possible that the $35 tickets could fully sell out, if last month's Summer Beer Festival is any indication. Four hundred craft brews, 50 Michigan breweries and a crop of food from local restaurants will greet any festival-goer, making these late October tickets a welcome introduction to the coming fall season. EASTERN MARKET — It's true that Guns + Butter Chef Craig Lieckfelt still is cagey about where his permanent space will take root in the city, but that doesn't mean that he isn't hosting yet another secret exclusive popup dinner in a clandestine location. The August popup runs Aug. 8, 9, 10, 14, 16 and 17, with two seating times each dinner. (It's almost like a real actual restaurant adventure!) Rates are a tad lower than last month's dinner ($40 a person, plus 'extra spending money' for surprise dinner additions, whatever those are.) No gurauntees that you'll have dinner with Anthony Bourdain this time, but you never know with these kids. [-ED-]

ORION TOWNSHIP — Like the incessant cross-seasonal encroachment of Halloween and Christmas, among other early-bird holidays, it shouldn't come as too big a surprise that pumpkin-flavored things are already slinking into August. The pumpkins want a stage of their own, and Orion's Powers Distributing is giving them that chance. Blue Moon Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale, North Peak Hooligan Hoppy Pumpkin Ale and Woodchuck Hard Cider Pumpkin are among the big batch brewers reaching Oakland and Macomb County shelves in the next few weeks. For local brewers, the pumpkin season is still waiting for that first chill. [MLive]

TROY — For Oakland County-types, restaurant weeks come and go. The roster for this year's Troy Restaurant Week skews heavily toward the high-end national chain side of the line, but the list also includes some local favorites like Muses Greek Cuisine and Loccino Italian Grill. True, they don't feature fixed-price options like most restaurant weeks everywhere else in the world, but they do feature lots of steak. LOTS. [Freep]
