Despite earlier reports to the contrary, the corner storefront in midtown's bustling Auburn building opens up shop today, not tomorrow. That's right — Go! Sy Thai, the latest outpost in the metro Detroit-area's Sy Thai empire of tasty Thai cuisine, officially opens today.
Call it a disconnect between expectations and reality, or call it a divide between surprisingly fast-moving city inspectors and end-of-the-line build out efforts — whatever you decide to call it, the least you can do is call it open.
Owner Cedric Lee told Eater Detroit that the opening is soft for the time being, with future plans for a Sy-Thai-system-wide celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original restaurant in downtown Birmingham.
"We're really excited to be here," Lee said. "We simplified the Sy Thai menu down to the most popular items, and we're ready to share it with our customers."
