A series of recent stories on the development (or non-development, take your pick) of Detroit's oldest and most culinary neighborhood raises some very important questions about restaurant diversity and neighborhood growth.
True, as the Freep writes, Corktown has been experiencing a "boomlet of new eateries" — Ottava Via, Gold Cash Gold, St. CeCe's Pub, among others — and more are on their way in coming months. But, as Dave Steinke of Mercury Buger Bar and Ottava Via tells the Freep's JC Reindl, "The community wants...foot traffic and livability."
What do you, that community, want to see in Corktown? Are there certain types of restaurants or bars that you think would fit in the community? Is there a space you want developed? Leave your thoughts in the comments, or shoot a note to our tip line.
