Now that August is just a few days around the corner, the eager marketing team behind the second annual Detroit Burger Brawl in Eastern Market has been pushing their event with extra vigor.
And why shouldn't they? The August 10 burger showdown at Eastern Market's Fairway Packing facility features 19 metro Detroit-area burgermasters in heated beef-slinging and hash-slinging excellence. Now that the list of the competitors is finalized, it's safe to say that we're pretty excited, too.
The repeat offenders in this year's burger brawl include Grosse Pointe's Dirty Dog Cafe, who won the "Most Flavorful" badge in 2012; Motor City Casino, who snagged "Most Stylish" last year; Pappy's, who won "Most Flavorful,"; and Birmingham's Townhouse Bistro.
Among the newcomers this year, Corktown's Green Dot Stables and Ferndale's Local Kitchen & Bar could really bring the burger pain in a major way a week from Saturday. The "strolling street-fair" event runs at $10 a person, and we'll be sure to keep you posted as the day draws closer. (Worth noting that there were originally supposed to be "two to three dozen" restaurants on hand, but the 19 confirmed participants span across the metro area's finest burger-bringers.)
