Ferndale's third annual Pig + Whiskey Fest took over the suburb's downtown district this weekend, proving that there's nothing like barbecue and bourbon to bring people together. (The semi-seasonable weather probably helped, as well.) Local heavyweights Slow's Bar BQ, Union Woodshop, Detroit BBQ Company and Corridor Sausage joined Ferndale's own Valentine Distilling Company and a host of national liquor outfits to bring good quality food and drink to the people.
Among the tasty tidbits available for consumption after the fact, there's word from Hamtramck's Rock City Eatery that they will definitely probably open within the next month, and the fact that pork products and whiskey taste good together. While you ponder which of those news items is more revolutionary, feel free to work your way through some eye candy from the the event and see just what you missed.
