Vellum's Summer, Revolver in Revolving Hamtramck Space

Vellum

DOWNTOWN — Though other local media outlets first drew attention to the DTE Energy neighborhood redevelopment effort on the west side of Downtown yesterday, Crain's Detroit Business has a few more details today. The potential restaurant or bar aside, the DTE spokeswoman tells Crain's that they see a way to bring a "mini Campus Martius with a farmers' market and food trucks coming in." Cadillac Square, Campus Martius and DTE Plaza, all full of food and fun? It's possible. [Crain's Detroit Business]

HAMTRAMCK — The latest entry in the long-running struggle at 9737 Joseph Campau in the city-within-the-city continues with the semi-announcement of the appropriately named Revolver, an "accessible artisanal dining" establishment setting up in the space that formerly nearly hosted Ooties and / or Acme Food Company. The site for the new space, which has already changed at least one time today, now promises an autumn opening. Acme Food Company was meant to open sometime this winter, so check back in autumn 2013 to see if the curse is truly lifted. [Eater Detroit]

ANN ARBOR — Fresh off his semi-finalist success in the 2013 Eater Young Gun competition, Ann Arbor's Peter Roumanis is gearing up for a summer of special food events at Vellum, starting next Tuesday with a savory and sweet dessert menu. Discussion, debate and hands-on exploration of colonial mixology await the willing and ready. [Eater Detroit]
