DOWNTOWN — As progress (and hiring, presumably) continues on the Mo' Better Blues Cafe in Grand Circus Park's Kales Building, more maybes and possible openings are on the horizon. An Eater Detroit source had word today that the building's managers are in talks with an unnamed Greek restaurant in Royal Oak to open a downtown location in one of the W. Adams Street storefront spaces. (Could it be sandwich makers KouZina?) The status of the proposed Michigan-centric sportswear store is still up in the air, but Mo' Better Blues could just be one of two new food options for the full-up downtown loft community before the year closes. FORD FIELD — Say what you want about the struggles of the Detroit Lions, at least the food options at Ford Field are winning. Corridor Sausage, two new Slow's Bar-B-Q stands and a Russell Street Deli outlet are adding to the mix when the season starts anew later this fall. Ford Field's Executive Chef Joe Nader told Model D's / Eat It Detroit's Nicole Rupersburg that the inclusion of the new food options is part of a larger goal to represent the city within the walls of the stadium. "My biggest thing is creating a Detroit experience," Nader said. With these latest food choices, it seems like he's doing a pretty good job. [ModelD]
ANN ARBOR — Longtime vegetarian valhalla Seva's of Ann Arbor is leaving its home on East Liberty and heading to the Westgate Shopping Center before the end of the calendar year. The move, spurred by rising rent and the added plus of free parking in the shopping center, is not expected to change the restaurant's popular menu. In better news, the Midtown Detroit Seva's location is apparently "booming," according to co-owner Maren Jackson. [MLive]
DOWNTOWN — The Jefferson House, the new flagship restaurant at the restored Pontchartrain Hotel (now called the Crowne Plaza Detroit Downtown-Convention Center) will officially open this Sunday. The menu, and the adjacent Urban Cellars bar, looks to be a creative adventure for executive chef Justin Vaiciunas. For a taste, turn to Eat It Detroit, or just head over there yourself when the doors open on Sunday. [Eat It Detroit]
